The 2022 is particularly compelling, combining black cherry, cassis, violet, wild herbs, pepper, and stony mineralitywith a beautifully textured palate, ripe tannins, and remarkable length. Gouges used a lighter extraction and 30% new oak for the cuvée, giving the wine more finesse while preserving its classic Vaucrains backbone. The domaine notes that these wines require roughly a dozen years to reveal their full potential—making this a serious cellar candidate for Burgundy collectors.

"The 2022 Nuits Saint-Georges Les Vaucrains ler Cru was picked towards the beginning of the harvest and is matured in 30% new oak. This is blessed with some of the best aromatics from Gouges: detailed and mineral-driven, a real and tangible sense of Pinoté here with a palpable sense of energy. The medium-bodied palate has filigree tannins, joyous red berry fruit and wonderful tension, fanning out with joie-de-vivre on the finish.
